Reaction after a new exposure
Immune · Independent CANRA preparation
Clinical study scenario
Minutes after a new food exposure, a 35-year-old develops a hoarse voice, wheeze and faintness. A rash is not obvious. A companion asks whether an antihistamine is enough.
Connect mechanism to the presentation
Airway and circulatory involvement after an exposure can indicate anaphylaxis, even when skin changes are absent.
Explain the next action
Prompt emergency action and intramuscular epinephrine are central to anaphylaxis protocols; follow local authorization and training.
When the situation changes
Breathing improves after initial emergency treatment. Is routine discharge from the office appropriate?
Continue emergency evaluation; initial improvement does not remove the need for assessment and monitoring.
Safety and follow-up
- Stop exposure when feasible
- Call EMS promptly
- Use only trained, authorized emergency interventions
After acute care, confirm an allergy follow-up and an individualized emergency action plan.
Practise actively
