OSCE scoring and self-assessment

Use observable behaviours and patient safety as your practice standard. Your study scores are not official CANRA scores.

1. Observable criteria

Record informed consent, pertinent history, examination, test selection, differential reasoning, safe care plan and clear explanations.

2. Overall station assessment

After practice, describe your overall competence and identify one specific improvement. These are formative reflections, not official borderline ratings.

3. Safety red flags

Record missed urgent referral, unsafe technique, failure to obtain consent, infection control failures or scope-of-practice breaches.

Blueprint-weighted focus

Assessment and Diagnosis 46–53%; Therapeutic Management 22–28%; Communication 15–21%; Professionalism 6–12%. These are domain weights from the handbook, not a formula for predicting passing marks.

The official assessment uses criterion ratings, an overall station score and safety red flags. Final results are determined by CANRA using psychometric processes; students cannot infer a pass from any BoardQBank checklist.
